Look out Starbucks!

Filed under: Madison — Kimberlie @ 7:51 am

Cody and I LOVE LOVE LOVE coffee, so it’s not a surprise to us, that at least one of our kids would enjoy it as well. Ok, I know our kids aren’t old enough to really start drinking coffee and we don’t encourage it [or let them]  by any means, but I thought it was so adorable this morning, I asked Maddie if she wouldn’t mind getting me another cup of joe while she was in the kitchen…she was happy to.

The next thing I see, is my [almost] twelve year old walking around the house getting ready for school with her own cup of joe! What?! Um, Maddie what ya got there? Coffee?! Looking at me as if to say, duh!

I guess you can say that our little girl wants to feel more grown up…she does!

I told her that a cup of tea would perhaps be a better choice, next time…

So our wanna be coffee drinker has switched to a good old cup of tea in the mornings…for now anyway.

A Little Something…

For You!

Happy May Day!

Five reasons
I love the month of May…

1. May for me, is really the start of spring and of course there’s Mother’s Day.
2. Flowers are everywhere! I love flowers!
3. May was the month I got to meet one of my favorite music groups “Platinum Blonde” when I was a teenager. I guess it meant
a lot, because to this day I always remember, May 17th, and I am not putting what year it was either!

*These two are the most important reasons*

4. I love May because it was the month that I became a mom for the first time. I was so scared.
5. My first daughter was born (LATE I might add) on May 14th…

Hair Cuts & Field Trips…Oh My!

Filed under: Grissom, Madison, Mallorie, Sam — Kimberlie @ 3:06 pm

Sam got another hair cut the other day…he went for a new spiky style. Love it! He puts gel in it every morning.

He has a “girlfriend” now, so he is always making sure he is looking and smelling (whaoo! Too much cologne Sam!) his best. Cody keeps telling him a “little goes a long way”, but the kids doesn’t get it. He is cute…growing up and very much a gentleman. He gets that from his daddy.

Mallorie is smiling in this picture because, she is going on her first field trip and first bus ride today! The first grade class will be going to a nature preserve here in our city. They will be hiking and learning about all the native plants that grow here and probably some bugs too, Mallorie tells me. Hmmm…fun!

This girl was extremely excited…she got up and ate her cereal at the counter, because she thought it would take too much of her time to walk over to the table and eat it. She was in a hurry! All she did was talk , talk , talk this morning. When I took this picture, she already had on her jacket and backpack , we haven’t fixed her hair or brushed her teeth yet, and this girl was ready to hit the road. Needless to say, we did brush teeth and hair before she actually, hit the road! Lots of fun to be had and I’m sure I will fill everyone in on all the happenings that went on.

Let’s see, Madison is doing well…sometimes I catch myself starring at her…in awe, that she is so darn beautiful. I know, I’m her mom and I’m supposed to think that, but JIMMINY CHRISTMAS she is gorgeous! I think it’s also hitting me, that she is turning into a young lady and is not our little girl anymore…ok I’m going to cry!

Grissom is keeping me busy…as usual. We are both just havin’ fun doing our thing everyday, thank goodness that involves getting outside…finally!

**Keep going…Cody & I have been postin’ fools today!**

on my older kids, just so that I can get a few shots of them.
They are always so busy and on the go…
I grabbed Maddie and got these today, just before
she headed out to her friends for the evening.

Madison makes this face all the time
too cute…

Cooper wanted in on all the fun Maddie
was havin’

I do have so much fun taking pictures and love
my camera…
but really really want a new one!
One day…

Grissom’s Jungle Gym

Filed under: Family Time, Grissom, Madison, Mallorie, Nothing Else To Do, Sam — Kimberlie @ 7:33 pm
*Here you go Cody*

This happens to be one of Little G’s favorite things to do…
Almost everyday, after I vacuum up all that stupid dog hair, Grissom takes off the cushions on my couch and stacks them up on top of another, along with anything else cushiony he can find…like bean bags!

He will then try and squeeze through underneath saying the whole time “I’m stuck momma, I’m stuck!” This is when I have to stop myself and leave whatever cleaning project I was doing and save the boy from the terrible couch monster! I am so lucky to be able to share fun times with my kiddos. My cleaning project will always be right there where I left it…

Well, Grissom has informed that he is hungry and checking the time it’s time for lunch…so off I go to make chicken tenders and hopefully get this child to eat a piece of fruit or a veggie…I’m not sure how he manages to grow at all…the junk food eater that he is!

*FYI~new construction of our fun idea has officially started…you know how construction is though…might take a few weeks to get it just right!

Dirty Donuts?

Filed under: Family Time, Grissom, Madison, Mallorie, Nothing Else To Do, Sam — Kimberlie @ 5:23 pm

I have a couple of Grissom funnies to share:

Cody and I use our cell phones for our alarms in the morning. We can’t stand the beep beep of our clock…anyway the other night Cody set his alarm for 6:00 am but, not telling anyone (me) that he changed the sound of his alarm to a WOLF HOWLING…it freaked me out and poor Grissom, well this is what we heard at six in the morning…”all the wolves are gone now guys!” AWWHH! What a sweetie, letting us know that the wolves were gone. Our little protector…I can only imagine what was going through that little head when he heard that howling.

Needless to say we don’t use the wolf howling sound for our alarm!

This morning Grissom gets up and tells me that he would like to have “dirty donuts” for his breakfast?! What? Where does he come up with things like this? I still can’t figure out what he really means…anyone?

Tennis Anyone?

Filed under: Family Time, Madison, Mallorie, Sam — Kimberlie @ 2:26 am

OMGoodness, it has been about TWENTY years since I have played tennis…I am feeling so old!

The family, well we have been trying to get outside (now that it’s not so flippin’ cold) and get some exercise on the weekends…we do live in an area known for it’s outdoorsy recreation like hiking, biking and skiing (I’d much rather be outdoorsy on a nice sandy beach somewhere).

Sam has been begging us for a tennis racket and some balls, that’s were this all started…off we go to the park with the tennis courts to let the kids hit some balls.

Ya know when your sitting there watching somebody do something fun and you have that urge to just get up and do it too?! Well, that’s what happened to Cody and I today…we had so much fun trying to play tennis…we’ve never laughed so hard. I think the kids enjoyed watching their (out of shape) mom and dad having some fun.

I played tennis in high school and other than basketball it was my favorite sport to play. I got to play on the doubles team with my best friend Shelley. Anyway, that was almost twenty years ago!!! Needless to say my brain knew what to do, but my body was like, um, no, I don’t think so, sweetness! What?! My brain kept trying to go for the ball, only to find my feet still planted safely right were I started. I’m sure I looked quite silly.

We had a blast though and have made a promise to keep it up…ya know, the getting out with all these other crazy outdoorsy people, getting in shape and having some family fun.
