Keeping Up With The Roses

We’re Living The …

Filed under: Family Time, Grissom — Kimberlie @ 2:58 pm

high normal life! We finally, after buying this house two years ago bought a dining room table! Yay for us! We had a small table for the kids to eat at but, nothing for the entire family to sit and eat at together…This is something we have sorely missed.

The kids missed it too…

This doesn’t look as good as it tasted.

Even Grissom ate  one and a half

pieces  of this chicken, not no stinkin’ chicken

nuggets, real chicken and to top it off (I thought for sure his body would go into some sort of shock) he even ate some asparagus !  This was so great !

Who would  have thunk  it?!  Ok ok, I know the cute veggie eating boy has no shirt on at the table…one step at a time folks, one step at a time…

To think, I really considered  naming our blog  “The Redneck Roses”, might not be a bad idea after all.

Sprinkler Shower

Filed under: Grissom, weather — Kimberlie @ 8:12 pm
Oh, The weather outside is finally…

warm enough (for Grissom) to have a run through the sprinklers.
A balmy 73 degrees so far today, yay!

I was just watering the weeds grass and flowers, when
Little G begged me to let him have a “sprinkler shower.”

We did a bit of yard work (front) on Saturday…it’s so nice to be out
and about in our yards, having fun. This is my favorite time of year.
I’ll have to take some pictures of our new plant friend, her name is Jasmine…
Jasmine is a jasmine and I can’t wait to smell her lovely jasmine scent, come late
spring.

I hope everyone is enjoying their spring filled days, just as much as I am.

Hair Cuts & Field Trips…Oh My!

Filed under: Grissom, Madison, Mallorie, Sam — Kimberlie @ 3:06 pm

Sam got another hair cut the other day…he went for a new spiky style. Love it! He puts gel in it every morning.

He has a “girlfriend” now, so he is always making sure he is looking and smelling (whaoo! Too much cologne Sam!) his best. Cody keeps telling him a “little goes a long way”, but the kids doesn’t get it. He is cute…growing up and very much a gentleman. He gets that from his daddy.

Mallorie is smiling in this picture because, she is going on her first field trip and first bus ride today! The first grade class will be going to a nature preserve here in our city. They will be hiking and learning about all the native plants that grow here and probably some bugs too, Mallorie tells me. Hmmm…fun!

This girl was extremely excited…she got up and ate her cereal at the counter, because she thought it would take too much of her time to walk over to the table and eat it. She was in a hurry! All she did was talk , talk , talk this morning. When I took this picture, she already had on her jacket and backpack , we haven’t fixed her hair or brushed her teeth yet, and this girl was ready to hit the road. Needless to say, we did brush teeth and hair before she actually, hit the road! Lots of fun to be had and I’m sure I will fill everyone in on all the happenings that went on.

Let’s see, Madison is doing well…sometimes I catch myself starring at her…in awe, that she is so darn beautiful. I know, I’m her mom and I’m supposed to think that, but JIMMINY CHRISTMAS she is gorgeous! I think it’s also hitting me, that she is turning into a young lady and is not our little girl anymore…ok I’m going to cry!

Grissom is keeping me busy…as usual. We are both just havin’ fun doing our thing everyday, thank goodness that involves getting outside…finally!

Thank goodness I begged Cody to take a vacation too!

Oh and by the way…
Grissom beat me!

A young boy’s lament

Filed under: Grissom — Kimberlie @ 3:23 pm

Grissom has discovered that he really likes hard boiled eggs.

This started last Easter, when he was bitterly disappointed to discover that the eggs he just hunted down did not, in fact , contain ANY baby chicks.
At ALL.
Then what was the point?
Flash forward to this year…
Now eggs are yummy. But not the whole egg. He only likes to eat the whites. The yellows have a different fate. Those golden globes are now his little friends, each with their own name, which for some odd reason all begin with T.
Anyhoo, he is merrily playing away with his flock, when fate intervenes. He grows thirsty. As the little guy, in bad timing worthy of any horror movie, steps away, a huge and horrible dopey dog comes by on patrol.
OOO yummy!
Now Grissom comes trotting back- and discovers the scene of the massacre. There is so little evidence of the horror that just ensued. Where’s my friends?!
Mommy!!!!!
:( heartbreak :(

Sad & Sweet

Filed under: Dogs, Grissom — Kimberlie @ 3:17 pm
Well it’s been a few days now…
We’ve all been basket cases…
except this little guy.

Until this morning when I asked him to let
Cooper in from outside.

Grissom stood at the door calling…

for Mollie.

I had to tell him…

He said, “But I like Mollie!”

So Sad & Sweet that he just now realized she wasn’t here.

This is so hard…

Grissom’s Jungle Gym

Filed under: Family Time, Grissom, Madison, Mallorie, Nothing Else To Do, Sam — Kimberlie @ 7:33 pm
*Here you go Cody*

This happens to be one of Little G’s favorite things to do…
Almost everyday, after I vacuum up all that stupid dog hair, Grissom takes off the cushions on my couch and stacks them up on top of another, along with anything else cushiony he can find…like bean bags!

He will then try and squeeze through underneath saying the whole time “I’m stuck momma, I’m stuck!” This is when I have to stop myself and leave whatever cleaning project I was doing and save the boy from the terrible couch monster! I am so lucky to be able to share fun times with my kiddos. My cleaning project will always be right there where I left it…

Well, Grissom has informed that he is hungry and checking the time it’s time for lunch…so off I go to make chicken tenders and hopefully get this child to eat a piece of fruit or a veggie…I’m not sure how he manages to grow at all…the junk food eater that he is!

*FYI~new construction of our fun idea has officially started…you know how construction is though…might take a few weeks to get it just right!

Dirty Donuts?

Filed under: Family Time, Grissom, Madison, Mallorie, Nothing Else To Do, Sam — Kimberlie @ 5:23 pm

I have a couple of Grissom funnies to share:

Cody and I use our cell phones for our alarms in the morning. We can’t stand the beep beep of our clock…anyway the other night Cody set his alarm for 6:00 am but, not telling anyone (me) that he changed the sound of his alarm to a WOLF HOWLING…it freaked me out and poor Grissom, well this is what we heard at six in the morning…”all the wolves are gone now guys!” AWWHH! What a sweetie, letting us know that the wolves were gone. Our little protector…I can only imagine what was going through that little head when he heard that howling.

Needless to say we don’t use the wolf howling sound for our alarm!

This morning Grissom gets up and tells me that he would like to have “dirty donuts” for his breakfast?! What? Where does he come up with things like this? I still can’t figure out what he really means…anyone?

Lots Of Stuff To Talk About…

Filed under: Cody, Grissom, Mallorie — Kimberlie @ 6:05 pm
This is Mallorie’s hat…a work in progress. I can’t wait to see
her in it! It reminds me of neopolitan ice cream…it’s kinda hard
to see that in this picture though. Cody should be finished with
it any day now…

Drummer Boy…
He thought of this one on his own…pretty clever!
I know, in his underwear again. That’s how he rolls.
Cody and I wonder everyday how he will do in school.
Grissom is a hands on learner, tactile and doesn’t sit
still for nothing. We will see…

More Mallorie bloggie time…this child has given
us our share of gray (white for me) hairs in her lifetime.
This morning she woke us up screaming and crying
and saying she is going to die in two days!?! I have more
white hairs now thank you very much…
Poor thing, I guess this was her second night
dreaming that she was going to die…the night before
she dreamt it was three days and to dream it again with
two days, it felt real to her. Very upsetting!

I’m sure most of you guys know that Mallorie
has always had a kind of “sixth sense ” about
things…
Last year she came running into the house
from our backyard saying she saw a small plane
on fire in the sky and that it was going to crash.
I ran outside to look and saw nothing…
I just shrugged it off and went about my day…
Mallorie on the other hand was very adamant.

The next day in the newspaper, there was
a plane that crashed about 20 miles from
our house… Mallorie was the one that saw it
in the paper first, she said mom that is the
plane I saw on fire! We were a little wigged out!

So, when this girl says she had a dream she
is going to die in two days, we stand up and
take notice! We always keep a close eye on
her as well as our other kiddos, we plan on
keeping a tight leash on this child for now.

Please say a little prayer for her, that she will
have sweet and happy dreams from now on.

Have a super day!

Grissom & Mommie Time

Filed under: Grissom, Kimberlie's Photo Play — Kimberlie @ 10:22 pm
Grissom and I were having fun
playing with his toys on the new shag rug…

So I did what I always do, I took some
pictures of the little guy. My camera is permanently
attached to my body…I just can’t help it.

We did go outside today before lunch and took some shots out there, it is a balmy 45 degrees,
why not! I might put those in a slide show or something…
